NEW YORK, NY (May 2022)—Industrious, the highest-rated flexible workplace provider in the industry, today announced its acquisition of The Great Room and Welkin & Meraki, two premium flexible workplace providers in Asia and Europe respectively. Industrious will immediately add over 350,000 square feet (32,500+ sqm) to its workplace portfolio across 6 new markets: Singapore, Hong Kong, Bangkok, Paris, Brussels, and Eindhoven, with an additional 600,000 square foot (57,700+ sqm) pipeline of new deals in key European and Asia-Pacific cities.

The acquisition of both The Great Room and Welkin & Meraki reinforces Industrious’
commitment to become the preferred flexible workplace partner for companies across the globe. Industrious continues to spearhead the flexible workplace future by meeting the growing demand for high quality, experience-driven office spaces that can best support distributed and hybrid work models. Motivated by employee demand for greater work flexibility, companies are increasingly leveraging workplace-as-a-service platforms that can deliver an unparalleled workplace experience consistently across a vast network of international locations.

“Industrious has historically created spaces that focus on hospitality, quality, and service, which has enabled us to set a new standard for what the workplace should look and feel like,” said Jamie Hodari, CEO and co-Founder at Industrious. “We are thrilled to bring on The Great Room and Welkin & Meraki within the Industrious ecosystem, especially given our aligned intent to provide high-quality, flexible workplaces. We look forward to expanding our offering on a global scale to better support work-from-anywhere models, while keeping our commitment to the highest customer satisfaction in the industry.”

Headquartered in Singapore and co-founded in 2016 by Jaelle Ang, Yian Huang and Su-Anne Mi, The Great Room consists of seven flexible workplace locations staffed by 50 employees across Singapore, Bangkok and Hong Kong. Like Industrious, The Great Room’s approach to the workplace is centered around hospitality, thoughtful design, and unparalleled service, which has enabled it to position itself as the flexible workplace of choice for enterprise clients, SMEs and professionals in APAC.

“We are thrilled to join Industrious and look forward to growing our footprint in Asia-Pacific to best support emerging work models,” said Jaelle Ang, CEO and Co-founder of The Great Room. “We are at the crossroads of a fundamental paradigm shift in how and where people work, a key element of which is the evolution of how companies think about the workplace. The Great Room was born to change the way people work, meet and socialize, and we are confident that with Industrious we are now best positioned to realize our founding vision in Asia-Pacific, Europe, and North America.”

Founded in 2018 by Alain Brosse, Welkin & Meraki consists of five premium flexible
workplace locations staffed by 30 employees across Paris, Eindhoven, and Brussels. Taking its poetic name from English and Greek, Welkin & Meraki spaces are designed to be flagship headquarters, bases for parent companies or satellite office spaces.

“Joining Industrious will bolster our ability to deliver a premium workplace experience on flexible terms across key markets in Europe, North America, and Asia-Pacific” said Alain Brossé, Founder of Welkin & Meraki. “Globally, employees are the driving force that is moving workplaces toward a hybrid future, centered on flexibility, quality and enhanced amenities. Together, Industrious, The Great Room, and Welkin & Meraki, we will become one of the largest operators of flexible workplaces, purpose-built to meet the emerging needs of companies and workers worldwide.”

The Great Room and Welkin & Meraki will continue to operate under their brand names. Leadership and staff members from both teams will join Industrious with the ultimate goal of expanding the Industrious network internationally without compromising its commitment to quality and service.

Industrious is now one of the largest flexible workplace companies in the U.S. totalling over 150 locations across 50+ markets. Just in the last year the company’s growth has accelerated: in 2021, Industrious closed 32 deals accounting for more than 1.1 million square feet added to their network of locations. Industrious has set plans to double its international presence by the end of the year through takeovers and organic growth. The company also remains committed to growing domestically.
